Has anyone got a link to the new Luas fares? I thought that all fares including smartcard ones were increased since Jan 1st? But when tagging off this morning I noticed I was only charged €2, same as I was before.

The fare increases are detailed at the end of the document located here.

Well looks like someone hasn't updated the Luas systems yet. I bought a ticket from machine on Monday and it was at the old price and this morning when I tagged off the old fare was charged.

I'm guessing Luas weighed up the cost of paying someone to come in over a bank holiday weekend to update the systems versus the lost revenue from not implementing the increases for a few days....

Or maybe they tested the update first, found an issue and postponed the release - rather than charging wrong fares ...

It is possible the increase has been delayed to 9 January.

It is possible that the only people who knew how to update the ticket vending machines were made redundant.

    Oops (possibly).

Jeepers if this is a "Soft" launch of the Leap Card I'd sure hate to see what the ITS people would have made of a full-on hard launch....

Strangely enough,on my inbound red-line LUAS journey this eve I was Deducted €2.20 (Kingswood-Abbey St)...however on my return I was deducted €2.00....whoopee..however it is showing up a serious problem with the integrity of the Leap product...If people get the idea that Leap is flaky, then the required level of Trust will be doubly hard to re-establish !

    Luas Fares 2012
    04 January 2012

Luas Fares 2012Luas fare increases will come into effect from Monday, 9th January 2012.

Every effort has been made to keep the increase to the minimum. There will be an increase of 6.3% averaged across the fare structure.

There has been no general increase in Luas fares in three years and there has been no increase in fares for children since the service was introduced in June 2004. Luas does not receive any operating subvention from the State and in order to maintain this position it is necessary to increase fares at this time.
