Triple Tuner PVR

    Hi Everyone,

Here is a triple tuner satellite and terrestrial receiver for anyone that had sky + and wants to record 2 x satellite channels while watching terrestrial, or record one satellite and watch another. (I don't know if you can record 1 sat and record terrestrial at the same time)

It's expensive, but nice for those used to sky+, I don't have it. Here is the link

    http://www.hm-sat-shop.de/en/hdd-receiver-hdtv-clarke-tech/clarke-tech-hd-6600-sst-plus-pvr-hdtv-receiver.html

    Use Google chrome and translate

It's the first triple tuner I found under 400 Euro's, you might find it cheaper if you look around, here is the website of the manufacturer, another thing it has is rf out for connection to a 2nd tv, It won't do the remote, but I'm sure someone here can help with that ?

Maybe some Irish retailers would like to stock it, it's expensive but would more than pay for itself after a year without sky's basic package!

You could also save a few bob by installing the hard drive from your old sky+ and HD box!!!

But it's not Freesat or Saorview compatible. So lacking in features and having to be manually tuned on Satellite.

Also a true combo PVR needs 2 x Terrestrial tuners.

Retailers get very negative publicity when they promote generic products rather than properly compatible ones.

Hint: It's being sold in Germany.

I've only seen 2 x sat and 2x terr tuners on extremely expensive equipment.

It hasn't got saorview on it, neither has my tv but it still works perfectly, I can't record obviously and I'm not worried about interactive services and teletext that use mpeg5.

As for manual tuning, you mean it doesn't come pre set but you have to set it to auto tune.

As for being sold in Germany, so are most of the receivers that are available here!

It will be a pain for UK TV compared to Freesat HD.

    Mad Lad,

Clarke Tech (or Hubtech) Korea do indeed make good gear. I should know I have a CTECH 5000C for years which is the single tuner 1 x dvb-t 1 x dvb-s2 of this.

The 6600 has been out a long time. It is aimed mainly at the German and Central European market and supported as such.

First off, Its a Single tuner on the DVB-T side (1xdvb-t). That isnt an issue anyhow at the moment as all the stations broadcasting presently are on the one multiplex. When they switch on the second it will limit your record one/watch another on the dvb-t side.

Second issue as Watty was trying to point out is the 7 day EPG for satellite which isn't present on these boxes. And this is were the German problem comes in. The Germans dont write software to do what is in the next paragraph as its not in their interest - they have no real interest in Astra 28.2.

Now Technomate are the UK equivalent of this CTech (and are also made my Hubtech). Hardware and Software is much the same (except for the bootloader which means you cant copy software from one to the other). Why would you want to do this you might ask? Because the software writers in Technomate unofficially released a software patch that grabs the 7 day Sky EPG off the Sky EPG transponder and downloads it to the boxes memory. It exists on the triple tuner version of the CTECH 6600 and is called the TM 7100 - there is also a combo version with a dvb-t2 tuner for the UK called the TM 7102.

There are plenty of other Triple boxes as well. Qbox HD and Duolabs VU+Duo (both linux) all can be patched for 7 day epg, which the Ctech 6600 cant.

What Watty meant about manual tuning was that should a station move its satellite frequency then you have to manually re-tune it on these boxes. Freesat branded boxes have a proprietary menu and software that does all this automatically in the background - but of course Freesat boxes dont do DVB-T.
