Hostel/Cheap Hotel with Single Rooms in Auckland

Any reccomendations? City lodge looks great but unfortunately booked up for the dates I need. Any experiences of Queen St backpackers? Don't wanna shell out for a single room if the place is still a kip. Just need a clean comfy bed to have a bit of peace & privacy for a couple of days. All suggestions welcome, thanks :)

I've stayed at a nice small hostel in Parnell several times called Latana Lodge. Quiet, cosy and warm, not a party hostel or one with a bar.
