Same with the Grange petrol station in Baldoyle, 150.9 for petrol, didn't see the diesel.

Seems to be an Applegreen thing, signs up all over their stations today. The girls in the Topaz just passed the Applegreen on the Naas Road are hotter though, tis a tough choice to make

M8 Services at Junction 8: 156.9 for petrol. Actually couldn't believe it for the first few seconds.

It's funny how a lot of stations upped their prices on new years day and not a minute later but when oil prices drop the come out with the "present fuel stock must be used first" line.

    Greedy wankers

It's a VAT rise, it's going to the government coffers, not the shop

But would the VAT not have already been paid when they bought the petrol in the first place?

Actually, am I mixing up VAT and duty?

VAT is charged on a transaction. Applegreen would have paid (reclaimable) VAT when they got it but they must also charge the consumer the applicable VAT rate.

Bastard petrol stations, charging the government legally required duty, the cheek of them

    :(

Pleasantly surprised by this at the Applegreen before the M1 (coming from Julianstown) this morning. Was still €1.468 so kept it under €90 for the fill (still had about 100km to empty but didn't fancy stopping on the way home).

Yeah - if only I knew of a petrol station owner that I could vent my anger on them ;)

But if they dont charge the extra VAT to the customer, they have to pay it themselves.

The Revenue will give them no liberty on this, they will have to pay it themselves.

I have 6 petrol stations within 2 minutes of me. Price ranging from 1.47 (Palmerstown) to 1.51 (Ballyfermot)

Filled up this morning at Applegreen Celbridge.

Signs advertising no vat increase here still in situ but upon checking the receipt , vat is charged at 23%.

They have to charge the higher rate but might have reduced the price before VAT so the end price is the same.

Bad news folks petrol and diesel are going to hit €1.60 a litre this week at the pumps.

I'm paying 1.47 for diesel. A .13c rise? You got links?

My point is they are advertising that there is no VAT increase whereas they are charging the new 23% VAT rate.

    €1.498 pl diesel / €1.508 pl petrol

Em... Legally they have to charge 23%, they are advertising the fact that they have not increased their prices to reflect this

Correct, i.e. that they have absorbed the increase instead of passing it on to the customer. Only thing is my local Applegreen was €147.9 last week and €149.9 this morning - funny that! (And yes, they have the signs)
