Are many Americans members of both Republican and Democratic parties ?

    It seems the most democratic thing to do so that they can have a say in who runs for president ? But do many do so ?

    What percentage of Americans are a members of either party or vote in the caucuses ?

    Not all states require you to be registered with the party to vote in tbe primaries as far as i know. I imagine theres quite a few crossover vote spoilers though..

    I don't believe any State actually permits being a member of multiple parties at once. However, voting rights to the primaries are, as Richie says, State dependant. Some are fully open, some are fully closed, and some only allow independents to add their votes.
