ok i shall do my best to explain myself here.

the mother has a 00 festa sitting up outside. nct was out mid last year iirc and tax about august. (must force her out to start up the thing so the bat doesn't crap out). the bat was new in last year, and the tyres are in pretty good nick, can't remember if i bought them for her last year, or the end of the year before. but she didn't drive to far on them.

i couldn't tell ya how much work the car would need to get it up to test standard, but it was/is due a service.

i don't know the mileage offhand and tis too bleeding cold and windy to go out in the dark now, but can be supplied.

just wondering what people suggest to do with it?

2 questions there, how does one get it to the test with no tax, and she no longer has insurance to drive the thing!!!! test centre being like 20miles down the road.

also i presume when one sees what it fails on you then decide whether or not it is worth fixing up

you dont need tax to test it, of course there is the issue of driving without tax.

insurance can be swapped for the day

It's worth way more with test, without it you're looking around €300

thats not too shabby, what do you reckon with test?

so i can get my insurance swapped off my car onto hers for the day perhaps if i take it down? and sod the tax for the day?

If only you weren't closer I'd take it as is, Sister is looking for a cheap runabout :)

If it's 1.25 Zetec Ghia, should be worth €800 with test.

    1.25 Zetec :)

Ghia would have electric windows, Alloys etc...

So would a zetec (trim as opposed to engine) IIRC

    eh?

Ford confused us all by having a trim level (like LX, Ghia, RS, etc.) called Zetec, and then also having a line of engines also called Zetec,

so you could have a basic LX model with a Zetec engine even though it wasn't a Zetec model.

If it's a 5 door fiesta watch out for rust on rear arches sills. They can rot disastrously here in which case it can cost more to repair than it's worth. A quick look around it and underneath and you'd soon know if it's ok.

its a three door, mind i shall still have a gook tomorrow at any possible rust situations

Three door models weren't as prone to rusting there so unlikely to be a problem.
