    It's Tucson

The 2WD isnt too bad on diesel, 6 speed a lot better, 5 speed models tend to give clutch and injector problems and arent that nippy.
    Petrols safer bet but thirsty

I'd actually have one over a Rav4 or X Trail, KIA Sportage very similar but gearchange not as nice and interiors very basic.

Best Tucson to go for is the limited edition (from 2007?) with the coloured bumpers, leather, cruise, tints etc.

Excuse my ignorance, but is there really any point in buying these, well as a 2wd? Would a normal non-suv "jeep-a-like" not be better??

I'd agree with you to a point, I have its sister jeep, a Sportage, and mine IS 4WD however, they have plenty of room in them and a high driving position, I went for the 4WD as I live in the country and it has never let us down in any weather or any road but if I lived in the City I would not hesitate to get a 2WD version.

Yes, so does the Sportage. :)

Op have a look at the Sportage too as they are normally cheaper than the Tucson.

The Euro ncap site says the same but I cannot see the brackets in the rear seat...

wife had a 5 speed 4WD. Was very heavy on diesel and ended up with a lot of problems including clutch, engine sensors, egr valve and the turbo went.
    I would avoid

As you say, if you have a need for 4x4 fair enough, but isn't a 2wd jeep not just a something pretending to be something it ain't?

Bit like an aston martin with an 850cc engine or an entrance of a grand mansion house which leads to a 2 bed cottage? :D:cool:

If you don't actually need 4x4, why not look at an estate car or mpv? Far more practical without carrying around the needless bulk of a jeep which doesn't do what it expresses itself as.

    Just my personal opinion....

Like any car you canhave a bad one. We had one, a 2 litre 2005 crdi 2wd, never gave any issues and put up big milage on it.

I would recommend one, great suv.

Our Sportage is a 2L Petrol and we see between 28 and 33mpg.
    Obviously Diesel will be better.

At the bottom of the back rest of the back seat, they are located there, they are lower than the base of the seat though as the seat folds flat.

Thats where they are on my 06 Sportage and my friend's 07 Tucson.

I lifted back the seat today and I could not see anything. I could see little symbols on the bottom of the seat with baby chairs on them..

If you go to put the back seats down slowly, and look in between the seat base and the upright you will see them, all they are is 2 metal hooks on each side in the back.
