    It depends. With the portostudios you can generally record more simultaneously.

    Like having your band rehearse, and record their bits individually.

    The draw back with the laptop, is generally you can only record one thing at once.

    The laptop sequencers, on the other hand have unrivalled production capabilities - basically you have the same tools as the pros.

    It depends on what you're doing. A mixture of both may suit you.
