    Hi all,

Whats the best flight simulator game that teaches a person to fly from absolute beginners?

Something with lots of tutorials that take it step by step would be ideal. Ive never used one before but Ive always said I'd like to learn!

Im using a Mac laptop so Id need something that works relatively well with a keyboard.

    Thanks!

MS Flightsim is the main flight sim of choice although XPlane has it's core fan base as well.

I know the former comes with lots of tutorials but can't comment on the latter.

Whichever you go for, get yourself a joystick at the very least. You'll struggle with a keyboard!

Which of the MS Flight Sims is best for a newbie, and is it compatible with Mac?

    None AFAIK.

    Try FlightGear - http://macflightgear.sourceforge.net/home/

    or aerofly - http://www.aerofly.com/

    X-Plane already mentioned

For other options type "flight simulator osx" into your favourite search engine.

I'm sure i've heard of people running Microsoft FSX on Macs using Bootcamp or some other Windows emulation software.

Would totally recommend getting a joystick whatever you do, flying with the keyboard is pretty much pointless. You can get a basic one for less then 30e i'm sure.

While this is true, it doesn't seem to meet OP's need for a sim "compatible with Mac" as it requires an emulator.
