Does this mean its down? Not available? Try later? Or not available to me for some reason?

Try changing your country, it's not available in some EU countries! Ireland should be fine though :)

Read all about Wii GPU failure..which destroys your console. It was caused by Wiiconnect24 constantly trying to update and overheating the console - destroying the graphics chip.

Apparantly it's been fixed by a firmware update, but I wouldn't trust it. No need to have it turned on to be honest. Especially not with the risk of it breaking your console.

go into the system settings menu and set your country - if you're not on the right country it won't give you the option of connecting to the shop.

From sys settings you should also be able to accept the Wii Connect 24 agreement.

Then make sure your system is up to date, you can't connect to WiiShop unless you're on the current version of the shop. (Updating may remove your ability to soft-mod the console, but that's beyond the scope of this forum...)

    Excellent...

Well at the risk of sounding like a Wii points whore, if this is your first time connecting your Wii to the net you can add an Ambassador to your account (see my Sig or pm me for details) and both you and the ambassador get 500 points.... :)
