    • Please nominate for the Best Special Effects in 2011!
    • Only 2 nominations per person
    • You can justify your selections if you want, but don't criticise other peoples' selections
    • The movie must have been in Irish Cinemas between January 1st and December 31st 2011
    • This is the second of three nomination waves. The rest will follow over the next few days, followed by voting.
    • A list of potential candidates can be found here, although please feel free to nominate anything not included.

Transformers 3 - actually made excellent use of 3D in places
Troll Hunter - some very good effects on a very low budget

Tintin really had me confused at points about which was real and which wasn't and not to mention the scene where the hero chases the piece of paper down the hill. Flawless effects that seamlessly blend in with real life footage.
Some of the special effects shots in Thor were worthy of being classed as cinematography. The shots of far away galaxies were breath taking and beautiful. Add to that the fast paced action scenes.

Actually going to go for Attack the Block here. Proof - compared to Super 8, certainly - that less is more.

Transformers 3 - The transformers looked amazing and the 3D was excellent and served the film rather than simply there for the sake of it.

Attack the Block - Less is often more and nowhere is this more evident than here.
