These might be worth a look?

The 2880 is a good printer, but the Epson R3000 is a better bet all-round, even though it is a bit dearer, it comes with a lot more ink which justifies the price difference on it's own. It also includes a three year Warranty.

The Epson's seem really good, with excellent reviews. My head is still telling me to go with the Canon it's €186 cheaper. Is the Epson that much better?

What I would find really useful is something capable of printing A1 for posters but also capable of producing high quality smaller size prints, would something like this do both http://www.adverts.ie/office-equipment-supplies/wide-format-colour-photographic-plotter-oce-cs2024/1190301

steer clear of the oce/canon on adverts, its a 6 colour machine B&W will be not the best

the current range of canon have double the number of inks

that machine is designed for producing graphics and drawings not high quality photos

I presume any printer that's going to print A1 is going to cost an arm and a leg, it's just poster prints for outdoor swing boards. It's not essential but would be nice if I could do it.

Going to keep shopping around to see can I get the epson at the right money, can't see any major difference between it can the Canon. Saying that i'm not sure what i'm looking at as all my other printers are all laser.

The Canon offer finishes on the 25th of January so I have another few weeks to to get lucky on the epson price.

This secondhand 24" Epson Printer would be a good option: http://bit.ly/yzYCqI

I have seen the output from both the canon and epson and I much prefer the epson, if I am not mistaken some of the epson a3+ models can take a roll where the canon cant
