Not sure if this is the right place but seems most appropriate.
I have a student travelcard but it is now out of date, I applied for a new one 2 weeks ago but hasn't arrived yet. The problem is I am travelling with bus eireann on tuesday, would I be ok to use my old card for the student ticket or have I to pay full price?
Any help = thank you :)

Do you have any proof that you've applied for a new one?

I've only ever gotten them in person from my college, so I'm not sure how it works. That said, I'd imagine that your predicament isn't a completely uncommon one.

If you have any proof that you applied for one at all, you should bring it along, with your old card.

What time are you travelling at on Tuesday? Would it be possible to ring the travelcard people beforehand?
1890 457 056 is their number. Doesn't say anything online about when they're available =/

Are you a college student? If you are, show your student card, BE will accept either.

As pointed out by ailbheg, you only need a Student Travelcard for Dublin Bus, Luas and Iarnród Éireann services.

You DON'T need a Student Travelcard for Bus Éireann. You can buy a student ticket with your college-issued student card.

@kthnxbai: No I don't have any proof of requesting a new one. I'm travelling tuesday afternoon so hoping the post might have it. I will ring checking tomorrow morning, or to see if they could send an email saying I've requested a new one.
@kthnxbai: I'm not actually in college yet so don't really have anything else with proof of being in school.
@etchyed: I always get asked for student id when travelling with BE so I think better safe than sorry. They asked for age before as I didn't have card and they said it wasn't "old enough" for student fare.
    Thanks for help :)

Of course I wasn't suggesting that you could get on the bus with no student ID at all. Just that if you had a student card from a college/university then you wouldn't need the Student Travelcard.

Evidently you don't so I hope the Travelcard reaches you tomorrow.

Oh whoops sorry I picked you up wrong!
Have contacted the travelcard about it, noticed online there is a difference of 3 euro so not the worst if I do get caught

Point of order here; if you travel on a child/student ticket without the correct ID you are liable to pay a standard fare ticket and not the difference in ticket price. If you don't have the right ID card then you need to use a normal ticket.

No link sorry but staff have been informed of this in the weekly circular.

Yep, I can confirm this. I was on the train the other day, and asked the ticket checker if my return ticket would still be valid after my student travel card went out of date at the end of Dec, and he said that all travel cards will be honoured by rail and bus services up until the end of Jan, just to give us some time to get things sorted after xmas :)
