    Hi all,
Boyfriend's iPhone got splashed with some water last night it looked fine and charged ok, problem is it now won't charge at all either with wall charger or USB.

The phone is 14 months old so out of warranty but still under 24 month contract :(

Any suggestions on getting it fixed?

    We are in Dublin

    Thanks

I'd say it needs a new dock connector

    Thanks,
Can you recommend somewhere to get it done?
I found the tech fixers and express tech through google - any thoughts on either of these?

    Thanks again

Is it covered by an insurance policy? If it is then that may be the best route to take.

No, there is no insurance on the phone :(

Ouch... Your best bet is to find a reputable shop to fix it. Ppl on here should have suggestions.

Depends on where you are based, if you are in Dublin you could ask Cathal to take a look at it for you

    here is his site

    http://www.irepair.ie/

Edit: Sorry, just noticed you are indeed based in Dublin :-)

Can I ask how you got on with this? What was the cost to repair? I'm with 3 and they recommend these guys http://www.fonemenders.ie/index.php but not sure how much they'd charge. My lovely new iphone went swimming in the loo (thankfully with just water in it!) :( and is currently sitting immersed in a container of rice on the radiator.

my iphone randomly stopped charging or turning on - unrelated to water damage i think

info on the web advised resetting the phone (data was safe and not deleted)

hold the lock button and the home button simultaneously for about 10 seconds, worked for me

    Hi,
Phone is with Cathal as of this evening, hoping it will be all fixed tomorrow, will post an update then.

I used fonemenders when my 3GS stopped working under warranty and they gave me a new phone - so I have no idea what they are like at repairing water damage sorry!

    Hi
Just to give a quick update, phone is now working perfectly thanks to Cathal ( irepair.ie), great service, well priced and nice guy to deal with.

Should I need iPhone repaired in future he will be my first port of call :)

Just to say I am in no way connected to his business, just a very happy customer
