Colm, mine is the Legacy 4 but looks like parts are the same for them as with the new model

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,223 ✭✭✭Nissan doctor

You'd be looking at approx €90 for the fronts and €75-€80 for the rears, supply and fit.

Ya I'd say 170e supplied and fitted with genuine Subaru parts.could do it cheaper with other pads

Have you priced genuine Subaru pads lately?

Have a friend that works in Subaru in Kildare in the parts and just so u no they have reduced there prices also a long with vw and the rest of the dealers

Are you sure swhyte? I don't know the price of the Subaru parts but I do know the approximate price of genuine Ford Mondeo and VW Passat brake pads, which are comparable cars to a Legacy. Even if Subaru have dropped their prices to Ford/VW levels you would still struggle to supply and fit front and rears for €170 inc VAT.

    Approx dealer prices:
    Mondeo €75 front €55 rear
    Passat €65 front €55 rear

That is €120-130 + VAT which doesn't leave much room for labour if the job is going to cost €170 all in.

I'd find it hard to believe that their prices are now comparable to the european brands when they can't price their cars similarly due to them still being manufacturered in Japan and they also only sell a tiny number of cars in Ireland compared to VW etc.

I rang lusk motor group(subaru dealer) to price these today just out of interest.

They couldn't give me an exact price without the reg/chassis number but did say:

"Are you sure the customer wants genuine pads? We rarely get them in as they are so expensive. We only stock aftermarket pads as people won't pay the price fopr genuine ones!"

So in short....no, 170 is certainly not for genuine pads:eek:

I then rang the Subaru dealer in Kidare that swhyte027 mentioned and they did give me a price...

99+vat retail for the fronts and, for some reason, 124+vat retail for the rears!! He said they did have them in stock but don't sell many!

In fairness ND just told us the RRP of the pads as quoted to him by the garage you mentioned, the RRP of the front pads including VAT is more than the price you quoted to supply and fit them.

What exactly do you want him to remove?

Sorry? Can you highlight what I said bad about you?

I priced a genuine set of brake pads from 2 different Subaru dealers for the OP. Those prices are what was given to me by T.P.Waters Subaru garage in Kildare.

Just out of curiosity, does the garage you work in, a specialist one iirc, pass the trade discount onto customers and only charge €28 ish to fit them?

    1. please use at least a minimal level of diction. I'm not a grammar nazi but that post is very hard to read.
    2. I told you (and others to use the report post function) rather than using name calling. You however, decided to continue making the comment that ND is suggesting that you are lying (when all he did was confirm a few prices)
    3. I won't close the thread as its not your thread to close.
    4. Next time, stop and think before you post. Consider this as a warning.

Well lots of your posts mention you work in a garage working on BMWs and Mercs so if you quote a price most folk will assume you are not referring to nixer rates.

I don't see why you want the thread closed, now that you have clarified it, the €100 rate was as a nixer.

I don't know if your still hung over from the festivities or what but there has been nothing bad said about you in this thread whatsoever.

Nobody is here toting for business either as far as I'm concerened.

Mates rates and trade prices are irrelivant to the price the op can expect in a garage.

just to follow up on this...brough the car in and got a call an hr later to say neither front or back pads were needing changing. Front had at least only half the wear and back were barely used.
Fair play to the mechanic for calling me and telling me this...
The reason I brought the car in was when I got the 45k service the dealer said there was about 6-7k left on the pads and they would probably need replacing before the car hit 60k (next service). So now at 52k I decided to bring the car in but to my surprise the mechanic said they were good for a while yet

SO got a price from him anyway to supply & fit and was quoted €180 (just to clarify this is not a dealer price but a local mechanic that I got recommendations from on here on boards.ie)

Thanks for all the feedback...the prices mentioned of about 170e were not far off the mark...

KB, if you want to close this feel free...cheers.
    Happy New Year
