What's my Focus worth as a trade in?

Assuming it's a hatchback Focus it's probably worth about €5.5-€6k on a private sale. So cost to change would be around €6k roughly. Happy New Year to yourself also :)

I reckon you'll be looking at closer to €8k and your focus to change tbh.

I was gonna say around the 8k mark too, Focii are plentiful.

That car will sell privately very quickly I'd imagine. Probably for about 5.5k.

Stick it up on DoneDeal and then buy with cash?

Thanks for the replies. Didn't want the hassle of selling the car privately but if I'm looking at €8k to change will have to go down that road. Going to see those cars next week and see what they say.

if i'm selling it privately what sort of money should i be asking? Is €5.5k achievable?

Yep possibly, the low mileage should appeal to folk, most folk buying a 2006 Focus might prefer to buy off a dealer though.

I imagine €6000 would buy a serviced, valeted one from a dealer with some sort of warranty though so €5500 privately wouldn't appeal to me personally.

What's the NCT status of yours?

What's the NCT status of yours?[/QUOTE]

Up at the end of May so can't run it through the test until end Feb. If i'm going down the private route i'll probably wait until i've got a new test before advertising it (or stick a 'it'll fly through the test' in my ad :pac:)

Doubt if the NCT will matter too much to a garage as a trade in.

5k should see her go, 4.5k for quick sale.

The important figure is how much money the garage want from you to trade up from the Focus to the FRV. Trade-in figures can be fudged to make it look like you are getting a great deal.

Both garages should be keen to do business though as a 1.4 Focus is alot more sellable than a FRV. The FRV was even a big seller when new.

Not in this case, the FRV would be something that there is a limited market for, but a market none the less. There are 213 06 Ford Focus on carzone alone, not to mind how many are for sale privately. A friend of mine had a 05 Focus for over a year and a half before he sold it, and had to take in a Citreon C3 semi auto at that.

If I was that dealer the only way I'd do the deal is that if I could get out of the Honda but have the Focus standing me very little money.

Thought i'd give an update on how i got on. Ended up buying this one - cost me €6250 to change with the focus. :) It's from a main dealer so getting a 12 month bumper to bumper warranty which is a bit of piece of mind. Picking it up next week after it's put through the NCT.

As an example of the differences between garages, this guy wanted €9450 to change with the focus.

That was a very good deal if the FRV is worth €12k, nearly 6k for your Focus is good going!

Best of luck with it :)

Looks like a pretty good deal you got there. As others have said 06 Focuses are 10 a penny and could take a while to sell privately. Also what you have bought will always find a market come resale time. Best of luck with her!
