How do i connect my philips surround sound to my xbox360

I am finding it hard to connect my philips surround sound to my xbox as when I switch to the source my xbox is on I only get my ordinary sound through my tv. :(

Can we assume that you're using an A/V receiver?

If so, what are you using to connect that with your Xbox?
What digital audio outputs does your xbox have?

Plug a Toslink digital audio lead from your xbox into your Philips receiver. If you don't know what I mean, ask. Also list your Philips surround sound model.
