    Happy new year to everyone!
I got up yesterday morning, (not too early mind you) grabbed the shottie & the springer. Off for a walk down the fields, we crossed the first piece of ground, with little or no cover on it. The dog is getting her nose down and hunting very well. We crossed the fence in to the next field, wet rushie patch with clumps of briars. A bird brakes From behind a blackthorn bush. Woodcock! raised the shottie..... second thoughts,..... small hen pheasant.... not sure,........ to late:mad:.On we went to on to a piece of hilly ground with some heavy cover. I have got caught out her before, were the dog gets on a scent, rushes over the top of a hill & bird breaks at 12 o clock & by the time i get to the top of the hill bird is out of range. Not this time though . I am getting to know the little things the dog does when she is on a bird, she goes around in a circle & then heads straight for it. Off the dog goes, with me in hot pursuit, sure enough cock pheasant breaks, but this time i am at the top of the hill. bang!! one for the pot:D:D

Back to the house, the wife has the breakfast made, Two of the lads have arrived early for or pre-arranged clay pigeon shoot, 6 of us have 2 hours banging away at clays and having the craic

Finished the year off in a country pub that sold its licence a few years ago. (shame it was a great spot) Anyway its as it was the day it closed & we have had a many a great private party in it. Last night being no exception
