I completely agree!! RTE were VERY boring! At least Jools has a bit of life and is fun. Happy New Year! :)

Cos they'd probably have Crystal Swing "jamming" with Johnny McEvoy or similar.

Jools is grand, I wouldn't watch "O'Jools" instead if they were to make it. They should maybe come up with a new idea for once, always copying the BBC hasn't done them any favours.

RTE don't have the staff at any level to even cast a shadow toward Jools as far as I can see.

RTE could do something like this, but that would require some innovation and thought

I wonder if Jools gets 300,000 quid a year.

Joools' Hootnanny' never fails to entertain and great to see an artist like Sandie Shaw again who still has the voice ,the looks and aging well for an 'old bird ' .

The simple fact is RTÉ haven't got anyone in their arsenal that has anywhere near the connections Holland has. He's been doing music shows on the beeb for nearly 30 years and was in several bands before that... in that time RTÉ were mostly concerned about such nonsense as the eurovision and navel gazing at it's own musical talent *airquotes*

What does Miriam know about music really? Who would RTE even approach to try and pull in even 10% of the muscial talent? To be fair to RTÉ the BBC has a long reach and deep pockets and they know their audience...RTÉ want to do things on the cheap (bar wages) and think their audience want whatever RTÉ decides.

I'm sorry to keep bashing at them, but they simply can't compete and on this programme at least they probably shouldn't try and simply stick with what they do themselves.

I'd say many music acts would love to come to Dublin to party for NYE (although remember that Jools show is recorded and not live). Sure most folk love it here in Ireland, don't they?

If the right person was approached (maybe Bono?) to try to get people to come, then it might just happen.

But if it does, please promise me no Sharon Shannon and her bloody smile! Please.

Because RTE could never compete with the BBC.

The BBC have more experience, more money & a much bigger audience.

But Miriam has better tits than Jools.

Were they going for a Nativity theme, or did RTE actually shoot the whole thing in a shed?

Yeah but Jool's has a tighter vagina than Miriam.

    Fewer kids.

Great to see these people still around and adding to the variety .Jools has his fingers and contacts in all the musical generes and that appeal to the wider musical audience is the key ,to be able to go from Buddy Greco to Sandie Shaw , Rico Rodriguez , Cyndi Lauper and more .

    What about other voices?
You get the likes of Florence and Ellie Goulding there and irish shtuff like James Vincent McMorrow.

It's not like Ireland is a total wasteland with regards the music scene.

I suppose they must be excessively compensated for their complete lack of talent.
