As I've mentioned in other threads I spend a fair bit of time in Kerry with work

Castleisland is a course I've yet to play, hoping to give it a go in next couple weeks.

Just wondering if anyone here has played it & what ye thought it was like?

There was a thread on here not so long ago saying that the condition of the course was poor...

I haven't been there for a couple of years but there's a certain wildness to the place that I thought was fun. The opening 6 holes are dull but once you get to the 7th things become a lot more interesting, and you start heading up the hillside. It's tight enough in places too, with gorse proving a problem on several holes.

You'll find a few photos of Castleisland here.

I havn't played Castleisland in a good while, and I'd be slow play it during the winter , although it is worth playing during the summer, as Kevin has said the back nine is more interesting/challenging and his photos are a fair reflection of the layout there.
I'd stick to the links this time of year especially with all the rain we've had.
