Replacement Sidi Threads

Got my shiney new pair of Sidi Genius 5's off Santa and have been fiddling around on the trainer trying to get the cleat position right. I unscrewed to reposition the cleat and now one of the screws won't go back in. I had trouble getting the same screw into the same hole from day one so I reckon there was something up with it. Was extra careful not to cross thread it but it seems there was no avoiding it in the end. All other screws go in and out no problem but this little fecker seemed determined to act the maggot from day one. I know have only two functional screws on that shoe. Does anyone know if this would be covered by where I got the shoes from (Merlin), or Sidi, or none of the above. If none of the above, where do I get replacement threads and does this mean the entire plate needs to be replaced.Pretty bummed about the whole thing, haven't even had a chance to use them on the road yet.

are the threads banjaxed on the bolt or shoe or both? did you try one of the other two screws into the dodgy hole?

Tried a few of the other screws in the same hole and they were reluctant to go in too so I'm guessing it must be the hole. Don't want to chance the screw I took out in any of the other holes in case it ends up being wonky and cross threading the other holes too. Sickened I am, haven't even had them out on the road yet.

I emailed Merlin earlier but they're not back for the next few days. Pretty sure if they don't have that size or model left which is a bummer. Hoping they don't try to blame it on me as it was giving trouble from the start. They're usually good though from what I hear. I'd be happy if they sent me the replacement part so I could sort them myself. Googled around and its not looking like it will be easy to come across the spare plate myself. Still pi$$ed over it, spent the last while trying to dial in the cleat just right, pretty sure I'd made the final tweak and the this happens

Probably best to return them for replacement if you can, but if push comes to shove, they're likely just an M5 or M6 thread that any middling engineering workshop/bike shop/well-equipped amateur mechanic could run a tap through to tidy up the threads.
