I've noticed that Bing have recently updated their satellite imagery in Wexford.

Entire county is included at high resolution

Anyone have any ideas of what time period imagery might have been taken at?

The long shadows are indicating that the sun is low in the sky, and the sunlight direction implies the sun is in South-South East direction which tallies with this being around November 2010 I reckon. There are pockets of frost there on close inspection suggesting there was a hard frost but by the time the sun is where it is in the sky (about 11.00 a.m.)the majority of the frost is gone. Most trees have lost their leaves too by the looks.

    So I reckon it's November 2010, about 11.00 a.m.

Don't ask me the day !:D:D

The images were taken this year, if you look at the car park you access off King Street (link below) you can see it's empty and there's fencing across it. That was during the construction of the ramp down from the Bride Street car park which is visible. It was finished before the summer. Also, the container offices for the construction of a building across the road are visible in the Bride Street car park on the left.

There just isnt any activity around schools or factories etc for that time in the morning 9/10 for it to be a week day. also a few activities taking place would be more likely at weekend.

    a soccer game

    Mass

    and dirt bikes?

It could be a Saturday but the streets and roads are deserted.

Nah, you're right, it's a Sunday morning. The vast majority of Wexford Football League games are played on Sunday morning or early afternoon. The link you provided is St.Joseph's pitch.

I originally just wanted a rough idea of date of imagery - ie Autumn 2010.

My main interest in this imagery is using it to map Wexford on OpenStreetMap, which is a free user-contributed map of the world.

You can see a map of Wexford town here: http://osm.org/go/es48dtap--

I grew up in Wexford but dont live there any more so wanted to know roughly how up to date the imagery is and hence its usefulness for updating OpenStreetMap.

It's mad how you've narrowed it down that it was probably a Sunday morning! Thanks everyone.

It would be possible to work out the exact day and time if you were prepared to spend some time digging away at it.

Its just a matter of narrowing the days down further.

There is a train parked at Rosslare europort, low tide, mass times etc.
Not every Sunday would have been this sunny.

No, early 2011. See my post above. The car park ramp and building on Bride Street were only constructed in the year just gone (the building was only finished a few weeks ago).

there may be different sections joined together.

It is unlikely that silage pits would be this full in January.

Also also look at all the winter tillage crops planted.

No. After summer as my holiday home only had shed built in summer.

As topnotch said. Could be a case of splicing the maps together and therefore different areas are different times of the year.

Castlebridge area is certainly late 2011 (end of October I'd guess)

Looking at some metadata when I fetch a bing imagery tile it reports the image capture date as 6th Nov 2011 which was a ................... Sunday!

Very surprised imagery was made available so quickly. Great sleuthing everybody.

As far as I can see, Pettit's is also done up which would help your argument of it being 2011.

Also I can see the construction in Summerhill is Finished.

I now agree that it is late last year. Looking again at the car park I've been wittering on about, the new ramp looks finished and all construction equipment removed so it is late 2011.

I had a look at where I live and there was a house that burned down near me on halloween. It shows the site cleared so the pics in this area anyway have been taken since then. I also think from looking at stuff around my house that they were taken pre december. So after halloween and before december.

Kilimuckridge area is late 2011 as my house was only finished in December. The image has a shed beside the house which we bought in September.
