    Fascinating. Thanks for the link.

I wish I knew what they were saying. The Kim Jong-Il montages are almost...mezmerizing.

    5:45 - North Korea comedy

"How do you confuse an Imperialist Yankee pig?

"Stand him in a barrel and tell him to piss in the corner."

    Cue laughter.

No travel programmes for far-off destinations.
No cookery programmes because there's nothing to cook.

Tried it again there and it works, looks like a real player type interface. Still showing test card.

    I'm using Chrome.

I eventually got to see the test card after rebooting and starting up Chromium in Ubuntu.
It seems the site is requiring browsers to have a plugin called "Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) demuxer.
Ubuntu was able to get around this problem by installing a file called "gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly"

It's a north Korean test card, how much effort would you hve put in if it was something worth looking at?

    :D

Technical problems like above I use as an additional chance for learning/training in I.T.
Someone sooner or later someone comes across the same problem and I might be able to help them.
It wasn't that I was in a hurry just to see a testcard - it was to see if I could find a solution to an I.T. problem and what was causing it.
    A learning experience.

I don't think we have to worry about North Korea's hackers just yet judging by the state of things! :D

There only the photos to lull the Imperial Capitalists into a false sense of security.:D

    VOA News
    August 04, 2011
South Korean Police Target North Korean Hacking Scheme

South Korean police say they have arrested five people suspected of working with North Korean hackers accused of stealing millions of dollars from South Korean online gaming sites.

The five suspects were recruited by a South Korean crime organization to work in China alongside more than 30 hackers from North Korea, say authorities.
They say their scheme involved hackers brreaking into the gaming sites and stealing users' personal information, which was used to create virtual players. Those identities would then be sold to actual online gamers.

Police say the North Korean hackers were graduates of the isolated regime's elite universities and accuse them of sending the money they made from the scheme back to Pyongyang.

Seoul says the North has carried out cyberattacks against the South in recent years, including an attack on a banking network run by an agricultural cooperative in April.

North Korea calls the accusation a fabrication aimed at perpetuating North-South political tensions.

You know things are that bad that any hacking that has to be done, has to be done from another country!
The resources in ones own country possibly not being up to spec enough?

While keeping an eye on them, I think the USA is not too worried just yet.
The problem of Chinese hacking is far, far bigger.

....But back on topic, their TV looks like something RTE might produce at times! :D

    North Korea first commercial.

The brewery was bought second hand in the Uk and shipped to North Korea.

They still have a radio station (shortwave) IIRC with English programming.
I really ought to look up the frequency. It must be a hoot !

Watching a bit of it now - 10 mins of stirring orchestral music, accompanied by military images. Then, an always positive looking female newsreader.

Presume this is the same routine, everyday.

Aye, looks that way - on constant repeat, just slightly varied each time.

Apparently from what I can grasp, they are still spinning the crackpot story about the birth place of their previous (now dead) leader - when in fact he was actually born far elsewhere! :pac:

Chilling, reminds me of the shrill, 24hr a day propaganda, that was on the Viewscreens in Orwell's 1984.

Must be quite strange if after watching wall to wall Dear Leader your TV suddenly picks up South Korean TV with its love of fashion, plastic surgery, fast food and soaps. Not to forget the wonder that is KPop that is sweeping Asia that seems to involve hotpants, large groups of synchronised dancers and expensive brand placement. Ahh the capitalist dream.
