central locking 01 fiesta

Having some trouble with the central locking on a 01 fiesta zetec. The drivers door will lock/unlock when the key is in the lock but take it out and put it back in and it will not turn. Used some wd40, no joy. For now I have to open the passenger door and the key has to be held at 'open' while the door is opened.

I want to fix it tomorrow or Monday asap . Can it be fixed or is something new needed?

Probably just need a new key cut. If it's the original key, it's more than likely well worn down by now.

If the key is good, then it could be the barrell in the lock on it's way out.

Thanks key is ok and have spare key . is there anywhere i could see how the cl system works diagrams/pics etc

Would the central locking problem cause a yellow light on dash

If it's the engine management light, then no!
