So with aer lingus starting flights to brussels do we think there is any chance of them reinstating the berlin route? it is one place i truly wish they would fly to.

Unlikely, which is a pity. I was on one of the last flights to Berlin in 2010 and it was a great place to go i must say. Great food, history, Permogon museum, etc it was fantastis especially as the last time I was there was in 1988, so it was major change for me. The smart money in Cork was that Frankfurt was going to be the new route so it was a bit of a surprise when Brussels was picked, I always felt it was a place that you could do as a 2 city trip with either Amsterdam or Paris. You now have three routes that to my mind are overlapping, thats ok if you have the population, ie, like Dublin, but for Cork I think it's a city too far.

Aer Lingus were going to operate FRA. They had slots in FRA for the service.

Cork Airport asked passengers which European city they would like to be served from Cork and Brussels came out of top by a mile and because of that Cork Airport may of got Aer Lingus to do BRU as a result.

As fior SXF will not be back the 4 Cork based aircraft in summer have a full schedule.

Such a pity that they got rid of Berlin and I would have thought that it was a popular route

The return flts that I was on in Mar2010 were both full, whether it was that the word was out and people started to use it before it went, i do know that I booked my flts only about 3-4 weeks in advance.

Thanks for all replies. It is a shame and a bit odd that you cant fly to germanys capital. Berlin is my favourite city of many that ive been to, great history.
The only consolation is that it makes my trip to bastogne much easier :D

The route is up on the route map on the aer lingus website but I don't know did they just never bother to take it down? Hopefully it's a sign of things to come

They just never updated it. It's been on the route map for years unfortunately.
