    With the price of petrol/ these days, I thought it may an idea to start a thread of economical cheap cars.. Feel Free to remove of you feel this is not appropriate mods! :)

    Toyota corolla 1.4vvti. Very decent on petrol.

    OP, how much driving are you doing? I went from 40mpg to 25-30mpg and it hasn't made that much difference (I only do 8000 miles per year). MPG often doesn't matter that much in real life. If I wanted a life devoid of motoring pleasure I'd buy an Octavia 1.9TDI.

    That's the guts of a grand :)
    €20/week, in real life that's a fair bit to many these days.
