Samsung are bad quality Junk!

Today my sister and her BF whom are technical illiterates about TVs and stuff went to buy a TV, they asked me to come along to give them a few tips so I did. We went into a few big name stores and I left them to their own devices to have a look around. I came back to them a few mins later to find they had been filled with a load of sales lies and had being half talked into buying a Techwood piece of junk.

I quickly persuaded them against it and we settled on two tvs in mind a 42" Panasonic Plasma with 5 year warranty €579 or a Samsung 40" LCD for €440, having identifed two tvs we left the store and priced around but the other stores could not either match the price or did not stock a similar tv. We went back and they bought the Samsung with it being my 2nd choice but the price ruled the day.

Anyway we brough the TV home and myself her bf went to assemble the stand and talk about a flippin nightmare. We had to use his screw gun to torgue the screws holding the base into the leg as we could not turn them by hand so bad was the holes and then when we inserted the stand/leg assembly into the opening at the bottom of the tv the drill holes were out by 3-4mm and after much belting and frustration we got two screws in but it is as wobbly as hell and falling slightly to the left as the tv is not level.

I wanted them to return the TV but they think it is "grand" something I would not tolerate for one second. The thing is we hit the tv leg stand a few fair old wallops in our attempt to align the screw holes and I feel they should return it as I am sure we have inexorably shortened the life of the TV.

I would never again touch a Samsung after this, I bought a PC Monitor last June and there is no screw holding together because the hole was full of plastic and there is clearly no quality control by their Hungarian plant where all of these products have originated. I am going to try and convice them again tomorrow to return it either for a replacement or pay the extra and get the Panny instead, where at least build quality is decent.

strange coincidence my sister inlaw bought a 32" Samsung and complained she had terrible trouble attaching the stand and even after she eventually got in on the tv/stand is still very wobbly/unstable , having said that she has no complaints about picture quality ( lets just hope small kids don't try playing with it )

Are you sure you were doing it right? I've put together 50-60 TV's in the last 6 months and never had any difficulty with a Samsung, although they're not even close to the build quality of a Panasonic.

Ive put together a few of those stands and yes they are a bitch to do , but if you were out on the screw holes then you definitely were doing it wrong.

You need a large long screwdriver to get enough torque , its easy with the right one.
But it should have gone together easily , Im pretty sure you had it the wrong way around , I came across that myself , once its the right way round it goes together well.

No they only fit one way and they are even marked back and front, it was the first thing I suspected but after triple checking everything the holes were still out by 3mm and it was impossible to make it work.

OP, you either have the wrong stand, or have it wrong way around. If it wasn't right you should have brought it back prior to damaging it. Now you have hammered, bashed and taken a power tool to it () you're stuck with it.

In my(albeit limited) experience Samsung are good quality and well built.
