Hi I need to get a borehole drilled for my water supply. Are they drilled to a standard diameter - just been reading what I can find on submersible pumps and pump diameters seem to vary. Familiar with the make " Wilo and Grundfos" Is there other makes out there I should look at ? . Has anyone heard what is been charged per meter these days ?- Im in South Tipp if a borehole driller reads this pleae PM me if you are interested in giving me a quote. Anyone suggest a submersible pump supplier ?

Thanks for any info - Happy New year

The borehole will be to a standard diameter as the "bits" used on these rigs are not bought over the counter in B&Q;).
Seriously though, the driller will know from your soil what he is doing and re the cost, he may give you a quote per meter only, without the final cost all in as obviously he will not know how far he needs to go to get the correct flow rates, lining types etc.
Re the pump, the riggers usually supply pumps too but if going elsewhere, point to consider is will the supplier give you guarantee re failure/exchange etc. Also, if sourcing pump yourself, I would advise to get one whereby the capacitor required for the motor and all other ancillaries are housed in the pumphouse and NOT in the submersible itself. Items will go, capacitor etc. and this method means you don't have to raise the pump... Less hassle tbh.

Thanks raydav My first quote is coming from a local man who has drilled holes for three people I know of. I thinks its a rig powered by a tractor, PTO driven - They say he charges one set fee for the borehole - If he just drills borehole for a good price I will not mind sourcing the pump myself. Hope to compare this to others riggers who offer the full package. Thanks for tips on capacitor etc Happy new year
