    2012 is just around the corner and without doubt this year will be the defining one for the Euro's existence. It will either sink, swim or change in terms of member countries.

    Do you believe the Euro will have less member countries come the end of 2012? If so which ones are you certain will drop out and why?

    And what is your assessment of the consequences if both Merkel and Sarkozy lose power during the year?

    The dust will settle and the scaremongering will die away and not much will have changed save for the neoliberal policies put in place and the austerity that we will likely never see the end of.

    How come no one ever has a poll along these lines:

    In 2012, will the Euro:
    a) go from strength to strength;
    b) become the worlds main currency as the us and china implode;
    c) win the Euro 2012 6-0 against Germany.

    Seriously, the best thing we have economically is membership of the euro, and to hear people talk you'd think we were tied to the Zimbabwe dollar. If the eurozone is still in trouble after the austerity, the ecb can engage in qe with a quick mandate change, unlike the us/uk who have already shot their respective bolts to no avail.

    In any event, your poll is completely biased in that the best outcome for the euro is staying the same. So I'm going to vote for an extra 3 new members and free cheese for all.

    Yeah Spain to excel and whilst Ireland will continue to struggle, I'd be hopeful, they have enough to stay and progress with the other main Euro countries! Italy will continue to fall further behind.;)
