Is the Skybox connected to the tv's aerial socket via one of its RF outs?

Either do this or connect the aerial direct to the tv (if it is indeed a terrestrial aerial connection you're talking about & not the satellite dish cable).

yes, sky box is connected from the Rf out to the aerial input on the tv

I have 2 aerials coming down from the roof, 1 from the sky dish and 1 from a terrestrial aerial

Try connecting the aerial direct to the tv.

Do you know which UHF channel the Skybox outputs on & which UHF channel your Saorview should be on?

Saorview should be on channel 48 I think, not sure about the skybox, think it could be 1

Do you get anything with the terrestrial aerial connected direct to the tv?

The Skybox RF output will be on a UHF tv channel no. 21-69.

68 or 69 would typically be used as defaults, but if you're receiving from Maghera, this would have been changed to avoid clashing with TG4 analogue.

Assuming you're scanning correctly ... what about analogue channels? Did you have those on your previous tv (& how many)?

What part of the country are you in?

In Clare, all channels I had were through the skybox which I have had for a couple of years but before that I had Rte 1 and 2, tv3 and tg4 from the terrestrial aerial

I'm not quite sure how your setup is. You say one cable for sat and one cable for aerial? Please clarify type of aerial you have (rough description).

Also, is your sky box a Sky+ box? Check if the two cables are coming from the LNB on the Sat dish are connecting to the Sky box??

Other option, the terrestrial aerial may need to be realigned in the direction of the mast and also to vertical or horizontal depending on polarisation of the mux.

How many aerials do you have on the roof? Saorview requires a UHF aerial.

Can you tune in the 4 analogue channels now with the aerial connected directly to the TV, bypassing the Sky receiver?

Maghera analogue required 2 aerials, a VHF for RTÉ1/2 and UHF for TV3/TG4.

Woodcock Hill analogue required 1 UHF aerial for all analogue channels.

Assuming you have the correct UHF aerial for Saorview and not used it since you installed Sky it may have moved and might require realignment to the transmitter or the connection at the aerial may have corroded or the cable from the aerial may require replacement.

Use the Saorview coveage checker to identify the recommended Saorview transmitter, frequency/UHF channel no. for your area.
