Try handing it in to the Garda or a shop for whoever the provider is?

Try rooting it and installing a new custom rom maybe, it might have been locked by the network after it was reported missing.

I'd say the phone has been blocked by the original owners network. Look at the SIM and contact the network. Perhaps they could organise a way to get the phone back to the owner.

In the two days did you not try call any of the owner's contacts?

Check if the handset has had it's IMEI blocked

Type in *#06# and the IMEI will come up

Put the IMEI number into this site here http://www.amta.org.au/pages/amta/Check.the.Status.of.your.Handset
and it will tell you if phone is blocked.

I know it's an Aussie site but works fine over here too ;)

OP said he only found 3 pieces, no mention of a SIM card at all.

To me the OP sounds decent enough as handed it in in the first place so, IMO, no need to question him on it

How could i the phone battery had come out as i said in the original post and there was a passcode...

the sim card was gone from it i did look around but not too well in fairness...the club had it for 2 weeks and no one came in looking for it to them... looks to me like someone wanted a new phone and had this insured and just flung it on the ground after takin sim out...or else that someone else took it and realised it wasnt compatable with their phone....either way there is a phone in my house that someone lost nearly 3 weeks ago and my sim wount work in it!!!!

done a factory restore..think i'll just try a phone doctor....dont understand how someone can loose a phone worth that much and not try any of the places where they possible were to see if it was handed in...some people have too much money!!

My mistake, I misunderstood when you said it worked perfectly for two days.

Well fair play to you for handing it in. Root it unlock it use it and if someone comes forward looking for it then give it back.

I lost mine in carrick on shannon on sat 17th night /sun 18th morn at 3am. i had the handset locked a week later, if this fits in with when/where you found this phone please pm me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 319 ✭✭personaltrainer

nope wasnt in that area.....how do you root it?? the club has my number if anyone comes looking for it!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,225 ✭✭✭Keith186

It does sound like the IMEI is blocked so rooting it wont change that, its probably pointless.

The database linked before maybe isnt updated live.

The net Lock is on. Someone told me that can be changed no idea myself how to do that so ill just bring it to a phone doctor next week
