Stay At Home dad

    can i apply for the jobseekers allowance if im a stay at home dad, my partner is on carers allowance and is pregnant nearly due and in 6 months wants to go back to work and can work 15 hours as a care assistant or home help, im a labourer but there is no work out there

    any advice

    I would imagine that as a stay at home dad you are not available for work as jobseekers means exactly that, seeking a job. I would go to citizens advice before comitting to anything.I found them great and know the stuff inside out.

    Available for and genuinely seeking work

    You must be available for work and actively looking for work to qualify for Jobseeker's Allowance. You may be asked to show evidence that you are actively seeking work. For example, letters showing job applications or failure to get a job.
