E46 New Exhaust and Cat Needed

I have an BMW E46 320d.

Over a few months I noticed a rattle when idling. I got it checked out today and have been told that I need a new back box and front cat. The flex joint is gone on the cat and it cannot be repaired. The back box has some debris from the secondary cat that was replaced 2 years ago.

The cost for both has been quoted at about 700 euros.

Needless to say I a bit cheesed off at the quote and am wondering is there any options to this.

The good news is you don't need a CAT, just get a straight through decat pipe which will save you a few quid. This is not a NCT failure as I've had our diesels through NCTs with no CATs and it isn't even mentioned as an issue on any report. Remember diesels are measured on particulates (soot) and not on noxious emissions.

This guy has wholesale new exhausts and windscreens etc. The name is James Walsh Wholesale Distributors and no's are 056 7771480 and 056 7771935. They are in killkenny but deliver nationwide. Hope this helps.

all depends if you know a decent mechanic he should do it fairly right for you.I got manifold put on for €30

I had two new flexi joints welded in a couple of years ago. I even started a thread about it.
