Herd Register Book v Online Records

    Folks
Quick question after leaving out my Blue Book overnight in the rain.

Once you are registered with Agfood.ie and can do cattle movements online etc, do you need to manually fill in the blue herd register any more.

Reason for asking is that it is sopping wet now and dont know should I bother getting another one and start filling it out or am I OK.

If I do, where would you get one anyway.

I would imagine at this stage that on-line register makes book redundant.

    Any suggestions or advice welcome:o

Its very easy set up SIMX. also if you are selling or buying, you can get the forms straight away rather than having to wait few days for the movement form to come through.

I was doing both to be honest cause I wasnt sure if the blue book was still to be filled out. Any Bord Bia inspection, its the first thing they ask for even though I told them I am on Agfood.

To set up, just go into agfood and set yourself up as a new user. As far as I remember, you get some verification thing posted to you and thats it.

In september of this year, there was only something like 6000 farmers gone the online way. I was very surprised to read this. I think there is to be some sort of push in 2012 to get more people to use it. Its simple to set up and simple to use - you literally can't make a mistake!

probably due to a good percentage of older farmers not being computer/internet friendly and arent going to at this age in their life, havent waited for the forms yet as got plenty of them before the local office moved:D

i went online route at very start
    Serious job
No writing in or out cattle after sales big time saving
How ever I do match cards to online register about 2times a year
    Recomend to go that route
