Christmas work and signing?

Hey everyone, after a few years of being unemployed, on the dole and searching for work I was finally offered and took a temporary Christmas job, purely on the off chance that it may lead to being kept on. They kept people on last year and there's no guarantee but, of course, I had to take that chance.

Now, my contract is nearing the end and I have to dreaded wait for the call back but worse case scenario I don't get the call back what is the situation with the dole?

Do I have to start from scratch and wait the how ever long it takes to get approval? How do they count my stamps etc?

I saved a lot of my pay - maybe enough to get me through nine or ten weeks but I'm worried that I may not get approval as I have no stamps seeing as I was unemployed. Does anyone have any experience with this? What has been the outcome?

Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

They are happy when people work - they have to pay less money, hopefully you get paid more and get to contribute.

If its a week or two, they just don't pay you for that time, if its longer, there may be some reassessment. You can still get a payment from the Community Welfare Officer, if you are stuck.

It was from mid October to 31st December. I assume that means I need a reassessment?

Your means will probably not have to be re-assessed as you were only working for a short period of time. I presume you signed off while you were employed. In most cases like this sw will apply your old means assessment even if they feel your means need to be reviewed..... if your contract is not extended then download the following form http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Pages/jajbapplications.aspx form UP6 and bring in your p45 or letter from employer giving start and stop dates.

Yep, signed off when I started working. Thanks for all the help. Hopefully, I won't need it (fingers crossed)
