    Ladies and gents, huge news:
I put an application in for an Ireland team for the ESL world championships, and we've been accepted. The number of players on the team is unlimited, so follow the instructions below to get involved

Note: spaces are open to anybody from Ireland/Northern Ireland.
Players will be required to have an ESL account, be a member of the team on ESL (details below), and be available for training/match dates.

    glhf!

EDIT: some additional info on the tourney.

There is no limit to the number of people who can join the team, but each round consists of 4 1v1s and 1 2v2 match.

If you wish to join the team, go to the team page on ESL at:
    http://www.esl.eu/eu/team/6481943

    and join with the password:
    81538c7f

edit 2: Ok, I have no idea how to add a poll, so if you guys wanna just post what days suit you for practising, we'll take a majority on our weekly meet.

    New Year's weekend. Good luck.

Am interested like I said in the other thread, bnet id is shaunn 235, the concept of a training day seems pointless in a 1v1 game though.

    Also nice twitter name...

Sounds good clueless, read the other thread there :)

If this is next week I'm in. However, if it's this weekend, including today, it's a no-go.

    Note: I'm on EST.

okok, new info on the tournament! There isn't an upper limit to the number of players on the team, but each match is 4 x 1v1s and 1 x 2v2. If you wish to be part of the Ireland team, post your ESL username in this thread.

Or alternatively, find "Team Ireland SC2" on ESL, and join with the password "81538c7f"

    (From NIGS Facebook page)

I'll sign up tomorrow some time on my ooooooooooold Warcraft 3 account.

    So a couple of suggestions:

1)We need to get an exclusive chat channel going online so we can not only play but also so we can all interact, communicate and get to know each other which is going to be really important for the team.

    2) Try and organise at least one day a week for regular get togethers and training.

    3) The format is, from my understanding, a group-based competition. That means that there is going to be multiples games over a period of weeks. It's incredibly important for the captain/manager/orga to be on top of things or it's going to be a flop.

    4) Have fun and get some experience in international tournaments ;)

    All good points for sure.

    1) We can idle in IESC on battle.net! That'll allow us to chat/play games/etc when people are online.

    2) I'm polling the other group on days that would suit them, so I'll add one into the OP for this side.

    3) Fear not!

    4) g.g.

Aight, I have bad news. ESL have now changed the rules, and only 10 people are allowed to play on team Ireland. Currently we have 12 players. So, in the interests of fairness, I will pick the 10 highest ranked players on the ESL page on the 10th of January. As well as that, I will not allow any more signups to the ESL page, seeing as you guys got there first.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but ESL organisation has been poor at best.

If I play one placement match I will get into masters, would I qualify over someone in diamond? I am not playing actively, but I intend to start in the second half of January.

    EDIT: Irish Passport? Nevermind.

Surely the community is settled enough at this stage that people know who the best 10 players are?

Dont pick the first people to sign up, pick the best people.

Its not like were swimming in masters players.

I thought this too, but even after being in the final of basically every Irish tournament i've ever played in, since i'm not recognised worldwide i'm not qualified enough to be on the team...

Playing on that account atm, cant access the other one and I dont think Ive played my placement coz the email account related was shutdown or something and I want to be really bored before I get put on hold for an hour with blizz tech support

    Shaunn.878 is the code

Do I need to change anything on ESL if I have changed accounts?

edit* nvm found out where to change the bnet id

You're completely twisting my words here. You literally know that's not what I said.

Well the rules are still a bit scarce, so potentially if you live here that mightn't be a problem. They tried to raise the "Northern Ireland: is it Ireland or UK?" thing, so I doubt they're going to bring up nationality again with me haha.

EDIT: ALSO, they're talking about reverting the 10player limit thing again. Stay tuned for info ¬¬

    hey lads,

I dont think the passport is the issue. I used ot manage Nation Wars on WGTour on Brood War and we had a couple tournaments organised with the ESL.

The passport rule was added to prevent people from changing countries every other tournament. Basically what counts is the first country you have in their database (so for me, France). If you are a well known player (let s say Kas) then they will preset it, but for us there shouldnt be any problem.

Edit: what about Funky? is he still playing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭Funky

Not really. Haven't played for a couple of months, pretty busy these days :(
