Coil tap

How easy is it to put a coil tap into a guitar with humbuckers..can it be done with all humbuckers...
I am thinking about getting it done to my ltd which currently has the low end EMG HZ pickups
Im thinking of changing the pickups in the new year ...would it be better to do it while changing them or can it be done before/after.

they have to be four conductor wire pickups

In this pdf you can see the emg ez has got the four wires with white and red spare.

You'll need a switch to turn the split in. Probably easiest to replace your volume knob with a push/pull knob. Be careful here as the extra bit at the bottom of the knob might mean some routing in the body to make it fit.

however just be careful, that seymour duncans wiring colours may not be the same as emg so you'll need to figure it out
