Changing tire size

    Lo All,
I have 700cx35 tires on my hybrid at the moment. They are probably the original tires and have decent mileage up on them.

I was thinking of putting on a set of semi-slick tyres as replacements as I am hoping to do a good amount of commuting in the next year.

Would 700Cx28 be too small to go as a replacement or would 700cx32 be better.

Most of my commute would be on back roads and I would be approx 95kg in weight. Will also have panniers with a max of 10kg in them.

Also if anyone has any recommendations for tires with good puncture resistance I would be delighted to hear.

    Thanks in advance

    Eoin

700x28 would be fine. You could even go to 700x25 unless you have very wide rims on the wheels.

I commute on 32 mm version of these. Puncture protection has been great. I had the 28s but feel more confident on the 32s when carrying a load.

Actually, I usually just put the 32 on the back where the load is and put something narrower and slicker on the front. Like a Gatorskin.

    Thanks Cdaly
The wheels are Matrix 750s. Not too sure of the rim width but I don't think I would chance 700x25s on them.

Cheers Petethedrummer. Was looking at those ones alright. Also saw that the Gatorskins come in a 28. Might see what the LBS has over the weekend.

    Hey,

    I have 25 on mine.

With regards tyre I use Dutch perfect no flat ,, they have one year guarantee. I even use them on my racer. You can get them from Humphries in finglas but they are a distributor so if finglas doesn't suit ask your local shop to get them.

    Hope this helps

I had a hybrid with the same wheels and went with 700x28 Marathon Plus. No problems with them.
