Engine swap

    Hi guys! Recently bought a derbi gpr 50 and it's engine rebuild time after sum gob****es decided to rob and rally it. I was thinking of putting an NSR 80 , 125 or even a yz 125 engine in it along with all the proper gear. Was just wondering has anyone done anything like this before? Rough cost of the engines? Anyone have an engine? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Its ultimately do-able but always a challenge getting everything to line up and invariably you end up with a serious compromise. I'd recommend finding a straight replacement engine for yours - try City Spares and other breakers (heres one on eBay) and save yourself an awful lot of hassle.

    Don't forget that if you change the engine you have to update the logbook and notify your insurance company. I sometimes forget this important step when I modify something...
