    Posted on behalf of Baz, "The Big BZ";

This year the Warheads will be holding a Warhammer 40k League. The league will run for 6 weeks commencing Thursday, the 19th of January. Gaming will take place on Thursdays in Gamer's World, with one game played per evening. The league will be 1850 points and will be strictly non-WAAC (Win At All Costs). Lists, and even armies played, can be changed from week to week but lists must be posted on http://onthestep.net/forum/index.php in the appropriate thread on the Tuesday before gaming. All lists will to subject to Bazcomp which means that WAAC lists will not be allowed (things like Venom Spam, Triple Psyfleman, Triple Long Fang, Leaf Blower Mech Guard etc.) If you're not sure whether your list is acceptable or not PM "The Big BZ" and we can negogiate... There will be a slight handicap system in place whereby the higher a player is in the Irish Rankings the more Bazcomp they will be subject to. All units marked 40k Approved in Imperial Armour: Apocalypse 2 will be completely legal for this league.

    Scoring system.
    Win: 25 points.
    Draw: 15 points.
    Loss: 10 points.
Fully Painted (3 colours): 5 points.
    Fully Based: 5 points.
    Fully WYSIWYG: 5 points

Opponents will be randomly assigned on Thursdays with replays being avoided where possible. Missions and deployments will be straight up as per the rulebook and will be rolled for individually by the players after they have been assigned a table. Any rules calls will be handled by the organiser (Baz) and Trget.

As all the above should indicate this is meant to be a fun league to encourage people to play and enjoy the craic on Thursdays but to make things slightly more interesting there will be a very good prize that is still to be confirmed but rumour has is that it will be €100 voucher for Gamer's World (prize sponsored by Bazcorp Enterprizes Inc. and Gamer's World).

Entry: Free Gratis! Gamer's World charge for use of a table will still apply, however.

    So who's in?

1st tournament of the 2012 Irish Infinity championship, February 25th.

10am to 7pm at the Union in front of Queens university, Belfast.

    300 points and 6 swc.

Scenarios and rules pack are coming soon. £3 entry fee. More info are coming soon.

Full rules-pack for the 2012 Irish Infinity Championship here:

This rules pack will apply at each Infinity Cup tournament held during the 2012 season.

The Infinity cup consists of a number of individual tournament events held during 2012. Players entering the cup will play in a series of one day tournament events where points are awarded for winning individual matches and scenarios. These points are totalled up at the end of the tournament season to determine the winner of the Infinity cup 2012

Prizes are only awarded at the completion of the Infinity Cup season, no prizes are awarded at individual tournament events other than those given at the discretion of the organisers.

    1: Tournament Signup

Each individual tournament event is open to a maximum of 12 entrants.

There may be more than 12 players in the 2012 season however each tournament is only open to 12 entrants.

A tournament signup is validated when the organisers receive an Email with the following details.
    • Player Name
    • Preferred Player Nickname
    • Faction Played (including Sectorial details where applicable)

Signup details must be sent to the organisers at mike.marchal@gmail.com no later than 3 days before each tournament event.

Entrants will receive a conformation e-mail from the organisers before the tournament confirming their entry.

After the initial tournament event, priority signup for further tournaments will be given to existing cup entrants.

    2: Tournament Structure
Each tournament event is run in a single day for all entrants

All entrants will play 3 separate games against each other with opponents being drawn randomly by the tournament organiser.

All games will last no longer than 6 turns or 2 hours including time for army deployment. Players will be updated on remaining time during each game which will allow them to finish the game with the same number of turns at the end of the 2 hours.

    3: Tournament Rules

Tournament rules will follow the second edition of the Infinity rulebook and the add-on Human Sphere, any additional rules clarifications form FAQ’s on the Wiki Infinity will apply.

Tournament points values and any additional rules will be specified before the event.

Each player must provide their own gaming materials; dice, rulers, templates and any documents they need to play.

Each gaming table will measure 4x4 feet and will have enough scenery for a standard game of Infinity.

Players must agree on the nature of scenery pieces, weather they block line of sight or provide cover before each game, if in doubt the tournament organiser should be contacted.

Certain pieces of scenery may have special rules depending on the scenario being played; these will be specified by the tournament organiser before each game.

Each player has 20 minutes to play his turn after which their opponent can request the start of their turn.

Each player must inform their opponent of any Automatic Reaction Orders (A.R.O.’s) as soon as possible.

The organiser keeps the right to change any rules during the championship if he feels it is needed.

    4: Miniatures & Army Lists

    Army Lists
Each entrant must specify which faction (and sectorial where applicable) they are playing during the tournament signup stage.

All army lists must be legal with correct SWC and points costs.

If a list contains more than one group, the 2 groups must be clearly distinct.

At the end of the game if your opponent asks for your army list you must provide it.

The pool or orders must be represented by dice or tokens clearly at the start of each turn.

Infinity army builder is recommended as a tool to build your army list.

    http://infinitythegame.com/dt_army/

    Miniatures
Entrants gaming miniatures must be fully assembled with 180 degree line of sight clearly shown on their base.

A fully painted army is not an obligation but a bonus will be awarded to fully painted armies.

Models must be mounted on their original base or base of equivalent size, if several bases are provided with the model the player can choose which base to use.

The Maghariba Guard miniature should use a base with 8 cm diameter.

Any model that does not respect those rules can be refused by the organiser.

Every unit in a list must be represented by their original Corvus Belli Infinity miniature.

If a miniature does not exist for an army list entry entrants may proxy an equivalent model. Entrants using a proxy model must inform their opponent about the model if asked.

Converted miniatures are allowed as long as more than 50% of the models are from the Infinity range.

An entirely sculpted custom miniature is allowed as long as it is not commercialised.

One small change to the RetCon Infinity tournament rule-set.

We're going to allow the optional use of a 2nd army list. It must be the same faction/sectorial, and you have to choose which army list to use before starting the game, but after scenario and opponent is known.

Only 6 days until the RetCon Infinity tournament.

Starting time 10:30 am sharp, registration from 10:00, so please turn up at 10:00am to be be ready to start by 10:30

Here's the hand-out for the RetCon Infinity Tournament.
    http://www.gregfarrell.org/infinity/RetConHandout.pdf

It contains the three scenarios, scoring methods, terrain rules etc.

As you can see from the Scenarios everybody is going to want:
    1 hostage model
1 VIP model (this can be the same as the hostage if you like)
1 guard model (2 guards needed for the scenario, but each player will hopefully have one).

You're under no obligation to provide these - we'll provide models if you don't, but ours will be boring and plain and you did always want to rescue that Bakunin Cat-lady, didn't you?

We've got 15 players pre-registered and are expecting additional players on the day.

The Plasma tournament - a European Infinity event - is to be held in Ireland this March.

It is the first 2 day Infinity tournament to be held in Ireland and and Mike Marchal will be using his extensive links with European Infinity gamers to hopefully get an international element to it.

Masses of custom scenary is under construction, Mike writes excellent tournament scenarios and there'll be drinking after day 1.

PDF rules are here - http://gregfarrell.org/infinity/plasma/plasmaRules.pdf - and payment can be via paypal, in person or whatever other method you want to arrange with Mike via email.
