Hello there, I am here to inform you why you should not buy computer parts from dabs,ie. Ever.
So about 6 weeks ago I was doing my transition year work experience, it was great, I was in the IT dept in Mason, Hayes & Curran.
I had it in my head that I was going to save up some dosh to buy a new PC, one of the guys in the office suggested dabs.ie because that was where he got his rig a year before. We debated what parts to buy and in the end it cost me just over €1200 excluding a HDD, OS, monitor and keyboard.
Placed my order about 5 weeks ago, all going well so far.
After about a week I noticed all the parts were ready to be dispatched bar the cable ties, so I waited another week and noticed the date for the arrival of the cable ties was pushed back another week, I contacted a friend of mine and he said to cancel the cable ties and get some in peats electronics, so I did.
Next day I get a call saying that the credit card was rejected, the bank has an automatic reject for purchases over €1000 to protect against fraud, confirmed it was my purchase and they said they would re-order it.
Over a week later there was no progress on the order so I emailed them again, they had obviously forgotten to re-order it. That's fine with me, don't make money from me. So they re-ordered it, after a few days it was dispatched, happy days I will get it for christmas. Then UPS get their hands on my package, thats fine I have no beef with UPS.
It arrived in Dublin on the 23rd of december, no computer for christmas. They email me yesterday, the 28th and say the forgot it, honest mistake, They email me today and say they lost my address. That was where I drew the line, I emailed them saying that I want to collect it, no reply for one business day, so it will be saturday before I can collect it, depot not open on saturday. monday it is then, I am visiting my dad who I do not get to see very often on sunday, we were going to play some LAN games, no LAN games for me, thank you dabs.ie and UPS for stealing christmas.

I have used Dabs in the past and found them very good, I did one order recently however and was not impressed. The trick with Dabs was always to always order items which were in stock, I was waiting at least a month before for a case which never got new stock in, I had to cancel the entire order and re-order!
Dabs have been taken over lately I think, they used to support Paypal which seems to have been dropped now, they also had much more stuff in stock than now. I switched and made an order with scan.co.uk which was a good expierience and they support Paypal :) .
I don't know if the card being rejected is Dabs fault, however I do remember needing to do a confirmation thing by emailing Dabs various documents to prove you were genuine, it delayed the first order by a few days, but was fine subsequent ones. Scan didn't do any of this messing and they were fairly efficient I found

Seems a bit over the top to recommend not buying from them again. Looked like an honest mistake to me. It seemed to go downhill when the order got cancelled. You gave them a week for the reorder and they forgot or whatever there excuse was and while this was a mistake on their part it seemed to be the only mistake they made.

If UPS only had the shipment in Dublin by the 23rd then it's unlikely you would have received the gear before Christmas. Personally I wouldn't rely on receiving an order on time during the 20th Dec till sometime after the new year unless of course the company guaranteed that the product would arrive before Christmas.

I know more than a couple of people who have fallen victim to their terrible customer service, so I never recommend them. They do have pretty good prices compared to the other irish retailers though. Genereally scan or hardwareversand are the best if you are ordering more than single parts.

I emailed dabs again and it turns out they tried to send the package to my address but in the uk, so I excuse them for the late delivery because of that mistake. Computer arrives in the morning, I am dead chuffed to be honest. One more chance dabs, one more.

There a proffesional company, this sort of stuff shouldnt happen in a company like that...
