How do i compare 2 different values on an excel spreadsheet?? For example I have a column with the value male or female and then another column that says "likes icecream" with yes or no as the values. (there are several other likes in other columns too)

I want to compare how many boys like icecream and how many girls like ice-cream but i don't know how!!

Help would be much appreciated i am underpressure to have statistics ASAP

    thank you

Have a look at the COUNTIF function. So you'd count the instances of 'male' or 'female' in one column where the next colum contains 'likes icecream'.

You can also use pivots for this kind you thing - however from what you describe the solution above is alot more straightforward.

For performing a Count with multiple criteria I would use the following:

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A30="Male"),--(B1:B30="Yes"))

Just change your ranges/criteria as appropriate
