Pity The Iron Lady is a 2012 release here. Streep is superb.

I thought Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids delivered a fine comedy performance in a film that many thought would just be an unfunny female version of The Hangover. Also Natalie Portman is the easy choice, I know, but the effort she put into her craft for this role is worthy of a nomination.

Kristen Wiig - Didn't think Bridesmaids would be even the slightest bit enjoyable, but in the end it ended up being one of my favourite films of the year, which for the most part came down to Wiig's performance in the lead role.
Natalie Portman - I do think Black Swan was hyped up an awful lot more than it should have been, but nevertheless, a great movie and a career defining performance from Portman...

Kirsten Dunst really stood out for me in Melancholia. Knowing some people with depression in real life, the performance stuck a little close to home at times so she gets my vote. I was genuinely impressed and any preconceptions I had of her as an actress were truly humbled. Well done Ms. Dunst.
