Hi all just noticed the coil spring on the front of my mondeo has snapped. Does anyone know how much it would cost to replace, or would i better off buying a second-hand suspensions and getting that fitted instead, as I have been told there is alot of ripping involved just to change the coil spring. Might save on labour costs??

Fairly simple task for any mechanic I'd say 50 for the spring and 50 r 60 for fitting.its not a bad job at all for a competent mechanic.

I'd just get a second hand shock/spring assembly and get them fitted. You will save on parts and labour but since you buy second hand you don't really know what your getting:o

With these I remove the subframe bolts on the side Im changing the shock and just loosen them at the other side, that gives enough room to remove the shock with ease. If you don't remove and loosen them bolts you will risk making sh1t of the bushes in the suspension arm. Half hour job if your replacing the whole shock and spring assembly. Allow another fifteen minutes if you are replacing just the spring.

Its not a job that any decent mechanic would break a sweat on, fairly bread and butter stuff.
