Not sure if this is the right place for this.

Is it possible to get a single set top box that does both the Irish free to air digital channels, and Freesat UK channels? Prefer not to have multiple remotes/boxes. Having a settop box and a dvd player is complicated enough as it is at home!

A true proper ''Saorview/Freesat'' STB is a pipe dream at the moment I'm afraid. :(

The most reasonable albeit DIY alternative we have at present is this dtt/free to air sat combo receiver

Runs both the Irish digital channels and UK free to air satellite channels.

You may be best hold out for an approved one that does Mheg5, that's the interactive teletext that may give other options in future, like the Sky red button. No official approved ones yet though.

to be honest if it's made by Triax I wouldn't hold my breath for it.. Will likely be buggy, glitchy, overpriced and crap like the 537.

Nobody mentioned Triax. I'd definitely hold out for Mheg5 though, nobody know yet what goodies this may offer in future

I know nobody mentioned Triax. But there is one due, and I'm presuming that it'll be the first one out.

So all you'd really be missing is teletext and the posibility of Red button services on the Irish channels?

And a 7 day EPG on the Satellite. plus the box wont update if an English channel changes transponder or Frequency. The box would need to be manually tuned.

Ahh ok. Think I might go with 2 boxes then, be difficult to set a recorder there's no EPG.
