N3 Speed Limit Query

Before the M50 upgrade work, when heading outbound on the N3 after the M50 interchange, the 100kmh speed limit used to begin just after the ex-roundabout as shown here http://g.co/maps/x5m82. While the work was being carried out, there were temporary speed limits in place however these have since been lifted. The issue is that it appears to be an 80kmh limit from just before the traffic lights at the junction from the village where the 100km used to begin (not far from the M50 interchange) http://g.co/maps/zf7z7 all the way to just after the off ramp to Blanchardstown Road.
However, where the 100kmh limit appears to begin are small "repeater" 100kmh signs as seen here: http://g.co/maps/mvxuv. These were in place before any works were carried out and have been there for as long as I remember.
If someone could correct me on the following, I would be most appreciative.....from what I have read, these "repeater" speed limit signs can only be placed after a standard sized sign showing the same speed limit as the "repeater" sign. This would mean that by default, if you see a "repeater" speed limit sign, the speed limit before this sign MUST also be the same as what is displayed on the "repeater" sign. Can anyone confirm if this is the case or better still, correct me on that? As there is not a 100kmh sign before the "repeater" signs, what is the deal, from a legal point of view?
I haven't been done for speeding or anything......it's just pure curiosity :)

I'd do 100 on the sections labelled 100, tbh.

    If safe.

There was a thread on this recently. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=73268753

probably worth checking if the route's on a speed trap zone first of all, cops give more leeway on the limit than the private sector.
i'd try check the "temporary speed limit" notices on google, if they were temporary for the works, then the 100 limit'd still begin after where the r'bout was

I noticed this myself heading towards Dunboyne a few weeks ago.

There is no valid reason to not start the 100 limit before the repeater, but with the merges etc I could see a valid reason for moving the 100 limit further northwest than the old limit.

I see the gym is for sale, is it still open, for all the grief it caused.......

    Where are the repeater signs?

I did an exercise on speed limits. On any of the urban roads, do not do more than 50km/h unless otherwise indicated.

On the dual carriageway, I would be very wary of doing more than 60km/h east of these apartments. http://maps.google.ie/maps?q=Blanchardstown&hl=en&ll=53.385685,-6.369459&spn=0.000418,0.001206&sll=53.401034,-8.307638&sspn=6.801985,19.753418&vpsrc=6&hnear=Blanchardstown,+County+Dublin&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=53.385685,-6.369459&panoid=xEQzSss6938j1qdYyJp7sQ&cbp=12,220.16,,0,-2.1

West of those apartments, the limit appears to be 100km/h heading north west (to Navan) and 80km/h heading south east (to the M50 / city).

This is not a legal opinion.

Hi Victor, if you pan round to the right to look westbound in your google streetview link, you can see the original 100kmh signs that I mention in my original post. These signs do not exist post M50 works (present day) and this is exactly what I am questioning. The repeater signs a few kms further west are still there http://g.co/maps/mvxuv but there is no sign of any 100kmh signs before these......only 80kmh

And pray tell where the 80km/h signs are? This has the new road layout: http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,708476,738507,7,10

Here they are, just before the roundabout....when it still kind of existed: http://g.co/maps/zf7z7

Can't find any 100kmh sings between these and the 100kmh small repeater signs though, hence my original query.

I'll be gladly proved wrong though!
