24 Hour Access to the Grounds?

Just wondering about accessing the campus grounds to go to the 24 hour
study center at like, say, 4am (obviously not this week).

The gate access times page makes it look like it's impossible but someone
in my year said it's fine  This has me thinking the "24 Hour Access (Key
required)" refers to ID cards as a key, idk...

Is it possible, & if so how do you get in?

No access after midnight to anyone who's not a campus resident.

Even if you're studying late and want to pop out at half 12 for food, you won't be allowed back in. You can however order pizza to the front gate :)

Its pretty annoying alright. What's the point in having a 24 study room if you cant get in to it!
I do alot of study in the 24 hour study room after midnight coming up to exams, and usually end up bringing a bag of food/drink with me.
Sometimes if you go up to the gaurd at front gate from the inside and tell him that you're in the 24hr, and you want to pop out for food, they'll let you back in.

One time the security guy even asked me to get him a burger and bring it back to him!

Yeah some of the security guards are pretty sound about it, but I would be reluctant to depend on it, or go up to them assuming that it's ok to do that, just cause some of them are outright asses and others start off being asses by default but mellow quick enough if you're reasonable with them.

If students could come in at any time and study people would start using the 24 hour study room as a place to crash for a couple of hours. Much easier to sleep in a library chair after a night out then go home and stuff and be back for class in the morning.

That's where security at front gate comes in. If people are coming to front gate at 3 AM hammered, they should be turned away. If someone turns up to front gate at 3 AM with a bag and student ID and they're obviously going to study, they should be let in....

At the Pearse Street entrance, stick your hand through the gate and swipe the inside swipe card holder (as if you would when you are leaving).

I think they physically lock it at some stage.

After twelve, the only way out of college is through Front Gate (unless you're a key-holding staff member), so that wouldn't work.

This. Both the Pearse Street swipe gates time-out at midnight.

Front gate itself is usually open on week days from about 430am. They let in the cleaning staff and some deliveries of food from about 5am onwards. I've been able to just wander in at those times... no questions asked..

As I'm just up I'd literally be down there in the next hour to the study space
if it were possible :( There is a big, most likely [nearly] empty, room just
lying there anxiously waiting to be studed hard but, of course, the
    man/government/immigrants/shadow-enemy's holding me back... :(
