Cycle route from Swords to Blanchardstown

A friend and I have a lot of training to do in the new year and it would be best if we could meet.

When I'm driving from Swords to Blanchardstown, I go through Brackenstown, turn right at Knocksedan, head out past the airport on the R122, cross over the N2 at Kilshane Cross, down the Kilshane Road and continue on through Ballycoolin.

However, the Kilshane road is a horrible road to drive. The road surface is in rag order, it's narrow and there is lots of heavy freight traffic using it.

Is there a better route to take from Swords to Blanchardstown on a bike?

A bit of a longer route but you might not mind since you are training, swords-Ashbourne-ratoath-dunshaughlin-clonee-blanch is not a bad spin, although the old n3 is starting to show signs of neglect since it became an R road. A good half way (ish) point would be to meet your buddy at Tara for hill repeats and cream cakes!

    North side of the airport
Take next right after Keelings Fruit Farm
Quick left and right, you're on the R122
left just after St Margarets Golf Club [ on the right]
Cross the N2 Finglas-Ashbourne road to Hollystown roundabout [R121]
Straight thru three roundabouts Hollystown, Tyrrelstown & Damastown
Straight on to Mulhuddart, left and follow signs for Blanch Shoping Centre

via Ashbourne Ratoath and Tara is way longer - but then there's the cream cakes!
