    Seen this in the independent. Apparently, Dublin is the safest place with fewer deaths per million. No surprise there I guess.

    Don't see that being a surprise, the average speed in Dublin will be much lower then most other places.

    I can bet the actual number of accidents(non fatal) is vastly higher in Dublin though.

    Roads straighter and safer, more access to public transport if you're on a night out,

    Majority of Co Dublin being of urban make up means better on street/road lighting meaning better visibility. Bit of a daft comparision to more rural counties really.

    Still had a "safety" camera on the Malahide road this lunchtime. Should have been somewhere else.

    I'd be interested in a better breakdown in the figures from each county. I'm relatively sure that the majority of those deaths in Donegal happened from 2~3 accidents - either full/overcrowded car(returning from a night out etc.) left the road and all on board died. Would the deaths in Roscommon be from a similar scenario or would it be single fatality accidents?
