    Smackdown SPOILERS 12/30

Booker T opened the show talking about 2011, but was interrupted by Cody Rhodes. He called Booker washed up, and was then confronted by Goldust. Goldy, without make-up, told Rhodes to respect Booker, but Cody refused to even respect him. This set up Cody vs. Booker for the IC Title next week, and the segment ended with Rhodes attacking his brother.

    (1) Jinder Mahal beat Ted DiBiase via submission with the Camel Clutch in a short match.

Backstage, Aksana flirted with Teddy, but was interrupted by Smackdown's newest talent, Drew McIntyre. Teddy said that if Drew lost to Ezekiel Jackson later tonight, he may be fired.

    (2) Alicia Fox & Kaitlyn beat Natalya & Tamina after Alicia performed her finisher on Natalya. Afterwards, Tamina turned face on Natalya with a super kick and Snuka splash.

    (3) Hunico squashed Justin Gabriel.

    (4) Big Show squashed David Otunga with Mark Henry in his corner after Bryan came out to distract Henry.

    (5) Ezekiel Jackson beat Drew McIntyre. Zeke held his tights for the win. Dull match.

    (6) Sheamus squashed Heath Slater.

Announced for next week: World Hvt. champion Daniel Bryan vs. Big Show for the World Title.

    (7) Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton went to a No Contest. After about seven minutes in the ring, Orton threw Barrett over the guardrail and they fought backstage and up an elevator. There, Barrett threw Orton down a staircase off camera before running out of the building. Randy positioned his leg in an odd manner and was clutching his arm as the show went off the air.

Dark Match: World Hvt. champion Daniel Bryan beat Big Show and Wade Barrett in a triple threat match to retain the World Title with Booker T as special referee.

If Jinder Mahal is beating you, things are bad, very, very bad !

McIntyre was switched back over yes!

Another Barrett/Orton match? Surely having them wrestle so often takes away from their feud? Why bother paying to seem them wrestle on a PPV when you will see it 2-3 more times that month on TV for free?

So Drew is gone? and i hope they dont do the usual with Goldust *Shockingly turning on Booker T*

The official Twitter feed of the WWE Insider reported the following Tuesday evening:

“BREAKING: @RandyOrton injured at #Smackdown in Indianapolis tonight. More details to follow on WWE.com as they become available.”

Obviously this could be storyline related. We hope to have more shortly.

The following is from our SmackDown **SPOILER** report: Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett in a falls count anywhere match is next. Orton threw Barrett in the crowd and the referee gets knocked out. they fight to the backstage area and brawl like they did last week. Backstage an elevator door opens and they fight in an elevator where there’s an elevator cam set up. Later, Barrett threw Orton off a set of stairs. The show ends with Orton in extreme pain after being pushed down the stairs. The crowd is not happy as they were not sure if the match was over or not.

I'd say the job on the line thing will be Drews gimmick atm

I wouldnt be surprised with Goldie vs Cody as was rumoured but dont think itl get a WM match, probably given away on Raw tbh but i dont know if they have anyone else in mind for Cody and dont expect him to drop his belt soon

*cue Booker becoming the next IC champ*

edit Randys injured! that could change plans on SD

Certainly looks like they are writing him off for a few weeks, but maybe it's just building to Orton making a return at the Rumble and winning it :/

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

Wasn't the Main Event a no dq match seems odd that it ended without a pinfall or that. Sheamus still at nothing waiting for Christian to return.
Smackdown fair struggles with name value without using a few Raw guys who were busy at MSG last nite.

An unannounced Rumble entrant sure seems likely.
But to win it is a different story.

But Sheamus is not "at nothing". He is getting a mega push destroying all comers.

Ah yeah but beating up Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater ain't going to get him any more over. He needs Christian back to wrestle someone the fans care about.

He's been drifting directionless for weeks now.

I know it was cut from the show and I don't think it's been mentioned since. My guess is they forgot about it.

Drifting directionless is not what I see. He just seems to be kicking ass as the Royal Rumble approaches. Was Goldberg drifting directionless?

Edit: Before anybody says so, I am not saying this is exactly like Goldberg's push or that it will have a similar impact. I am just saying that a guy going on a streak of wins is wrestling booking 101.

RANDY ORTON UPDATE, SHOOTING DOWN A FALSE REPORT
by Mike Johnson @ 3:12 PM on 12/28/2011

The ending to Smackdown for this Friday was dictated by Randy Orton's back issues. The injury was something Orton had been dealing with in recent weeks, so his match with Wade Barrett was company's way of writing the injury into the storylines.

While we do not have any update on the severity of the injury at this time, I want to note that an inaccurate report is floating around citing PWInsider.com as reporting Orton would miss Wrestlemania due to a slipped disc. Nothing of the sort was written or stated on either the free or Elite versions of PWInsider.com. Whoever published that report is stating an absolute lie, so remember that when you decide what outlets are legitimate and worth your time.

It was announced at last night's WWE SmackDown live event in Detroit, Michigan that Randy Orton will be out of action for six months, meaning he will most likely miss WrestleMania 28. We reported earlier that it was possible Orton would be out six months. Several other websites heavily denied that our report was true.

WWE were offering refunds at tonight’s live event to anyone who wanted them, since Orton couldn’t appear.

big loss to the wwe and especially the smackdown brand.

Big loss indeed. Sheamus is going to be pretty important for them now, he's probably the most over guy they have on Smackdown without Orton. They'll probably move somebody from Raw over but it's hard to know who, Ryder maybe?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,855 ✭✭✭Charlie Haughy

Maybe this will give Sheamo a chance to headline mania for the title now, please make it happen wwe.

My worry is they'll draft over Punk so as to keep Cena at the top of the card :(

I could she Barrett and Sheamus having a brief feud now maybe till Orton is back (if he is back at RR)

    Welcome back Tamina!

She looked like a star tonight.

I had no interest in Di Biase and Mahal. Hate both guys personas/gimmicks. Neither are even close to others who I will mention in my next two cooments.

good to see Cody and Booker opening the show. I really like the continuity having the smackdown gys on Raw brings. Not sure why wwe think they need goldust involved.

also great to see drew back and wwe again showing they remember the past by referencing his previous form on smackdown and history with teddy. Thats as far as I got so far.

DB reminded me of the little dude in home alone during that backstage segment. Some day they will allow the intense Bryan ro come through.

what is with the samoan guy being billed as camacho the mexican? Odd. The Hunico v Gabriel match was far to short. But hopefully the ending leads to another match or two with more time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

Drew McIntyre's music is so EPIC I don't think anybody could live up to it. Hunico and Paco or whatever his name looked like a couple of idiots coming out on the lowrider bike and the guy wasn't even peddling the thing.

I hope Sheamus/Hornswoggle dosent become like Finlay/Hornswoggle where he comes to the ring and all with him.

Lots of Sheamus tonight which is good. Crowd is loving him.

    Camera in the elevator haha

I Lol'd at that too, kinda late 90's cheesyness. Missed Kaitlyn's match, pity. Why did Barrett run away at the end as if he killed him?

Seamus is the star of this show, hands down.

Bryan was acting odd this week, not sure how to put it other than say he was odd!

With Christian and Orton both out, does that mean we will see some kind of Barrett-Sheamus rivalry heading into the Rumble? Other than Barrett's loss at TLC, both men have been on a winning run for a while.

Was funny Booker T highlighting Michael Cole having no knowledge of wrestling moves.

Booker T: "It's called an inside cradle, not a rollup."
Cole: "What do I look like, Jim Ross or Gordon Solie?"

At least Cole admits he doesn't know the names of any wrestling moves. :D

    Elevator fight was missing something

I knew what it was gonna be, but I lol'd.

I thought the show was good last night. I really enjoyed the Sheamus R'Kelly line, hardly original, but I liked it. I think the Bryan heel turn is gonna happen soon, and please god they book him to go over clean against Big Show, because I found it stupid that they had Show laughing in his face when Long announced the match for next week. Made him look weak imo. I'd love if he got Show to tap out in quick time, but don't see it happening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

Bryan's reign is starting to sound a lot like Swagger's, complete with Big Show and everything. A loss for Show won't hurt him any but a strong victory for Bryan would be huge. If they are serious about pushing him, he needs to beat Show cleanly and effectively. Ideally, submission or even knock out from a kick or something.

It was weird seeing Goldust without his gold gear
